Description

PyraMaze is a first-person adventure game taking place in a high-tech, high-security Ancient Egyptian-themed pyramid maze. The player must collect all the hieroglyphs' data, upload the data to the server towers, take the crypto-treasure and escape within a set amount of time.

This project was created in my second year of my Computer Games Development course at university as part of the Game Engine Architecture module. I have created this game to demonstrate my knowledge of prototyping with games engines.

Following completion of the Game Engine Architecture module, I have continued to work on this game by creating 2D designs and animations, 3D assets, implementing additional gameplay mechanics as well as polishing and updating certain parts of the game.

Throughout the 2D design process, I have primarily utilised Adobe Illustrator along with Adobe Photoshop to help me with making some adjustments and adding some finishing touches.

I have mostly used shapes to create the designs for the key, padlock, power button, electricity and the skull and crossbones icons. The hieroglyphs were created by using the 'Paintbrush Tool' due to precise detail on the hieroglyphs' designs.

2D Animations

As an added feature for the computer and phone screens, I have created a variety of 2D animations to implement to the screens. Each animation in the game gets played in their specified events. For example,  when the player collects the crypto-treasure, the phone screen plays the "Downloading" screen and the computer screen plays the "Transferring" screen.

These animations were all created using Adobe Animate where I would create a working progress bar along with text that displays the status of the progress.

3D Models

For the 3D models, I have utilised the Blender 3D modelling software where I have primarily created the technology-based assets for the game including the smartphone, computer and CCTV camera.

Majority of these assets have a simplistic high-tech design primarily consisting of a black and neon-blue colour code to represent a common concept of futuristic culture.
